House of Reps warns Military to stop invasion on Bayels state..

The Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin, has been directed by members of the House of Representatives, to put a halt to the ongoing military invasion in Bayelsa state. The lawmakers also directed Olonishakin to stop the attack on innocent civilians residing in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa. The lower legislative house gave the directive on Thursday July 20, following the adoption of a motion by Hon. Frederick Agbedi (PDP-Bayelsa), New Telegraph reports. The motion,“Military incursion into Letugbene community and others in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state’’, was made under issues of national importance. According to Agbedi, the administration of the late Umaru Yar’Adua had commissioned a Joint Military Task Force which was then stationed in the Niger Delta region to protect oil installations, following incidents of pipeline vandalism. Bayelsa confirms reciept of N10bn Paris Club refund

The Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday, confirmed the receipt of N10 billion from the Federal Government as its share of the second batch of the Paris/London Club refund. Out of the money, N919 million is expected to be for the eight local government councils A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson said the governor made the confirmation at the Government House in Yenagoa, when he played host to labour leaders in the state. Also according to the statement, Dickson directed the State Commissioner for Finance, Maxwell Ebibai, to immediately release the money to enable them carry out their obligations, especially to clear some outstanding salaries. Three (3) Men sentence to death for stripping and abuse on a lady in Kenya

Three men who atta cked and abused a woman on a bus in Kenya have been handed death sentences by a magistrate court in the capital, Nairobi. The said incident took place on the night of September 19, 2014. The Star newspaper reported that the three were convicted of robbery with violence. The crime of stripping the woman attracted a further 25 years which is effectively suspended due to the death sentence. The three men, a bus driver, his conductor and a third person in 2014 stripped a woman on a bus in an action the trial judge described as ‘senseless and uncouth act that they seemed to enjoy because they were cheering as they stripped the woman. What you thought was a joke should not be taken lightly as a woman’s privacy and decency should be respected at all times,” Magistrate Francis Andayi stressed.
